TEXARKANA, Texas -- The Pleasant Grove Independent School District will present an architectural rendering of a Career and Technical Education addition to the high school during a regular board meeting on Thursday.

The addition will be an extension structure between the high school building and indoor facility. This project is funded through the $19.9 million bond voters approved in 2018 for the school and for updated security and technology district-wide.

Director of Operations Matt Fry said the board will be presented with the floor plan and perhaps some exterior elevations of the addition.

It will include 11 total classrooms -- eight standard size and three larger ones -- that will house the school's health science, graphic design, TV production, engineering and business programs. There will be an add-on outside workspace with the robotics room, and one of the rooms will be a studio for television and audio production.

A groundbreaking for the project is expected this summer, and the district is eyeing fall 2023 for when the addition will be ready for student use. The square footage will be around 12,000.

Last month, the board approved the hiring of a construction manager for the project. Harrison Walker & Harper was selected by a district committee to recommend to the board for the position.

The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the Central Services Boardroom, 8500 N. Kings Hwy.
