In a news release shared on Wednesday, February 22, Bill Miller Bar-B-Q revealed its 2023 Fiesta medal, as well as an update to its iconic tumbler in honor of the anniversary, which the San Antonio-based chain is plenty excited about.
“We are thankful to Bill Miller who started a small egg business in 1950 which led to Highland Poultry House. He was a great leader and businessman [who] three years later was able to start a small fried chicken-to-go restaurant,” said Jim Guy Egbert, Bill Miller CEO and president, in a statement. “Today, we have 77 locations, and with the support of the Miller Family and dedication of our employees, we are proud to be a staple in South Texas serving the community.”
Egbert also thanked longtime fans who have dined at the San Antonio chain for generations. As part of the chain’s gratitude, new themed merchandise is now up for grabs with more to come, Egbert teased in the statement. The special edition of the Texas Tea Bucket, which is brown and features an orange lid, is available for purchase at all Bill Miller Bar-B-Q locations for $4.55.
As for this year’s Fiesta medal, which is in the shape of Texas, the design includes the 70th anniversary logo, roses, and a banner displaying the founding year and anniversary year. Given that other Texas cities don’t have the pleasure of celebrating Fiesta, the medal will only be sold at San Antonio-area restaurants. Proceeds from the medal sales, each costs $8, will benefit the Bill Miller Bar-B-Q Scholarship program.
